ENY ACS November Meeting
November 20 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Guest Speaker: Ellen Robertson, Union College
What the Nano-Sheet! Peptoid-Mediated Assembly of 2D Nanostructures at the Oil-Water Interface
Ellen Robertson is currently an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Union College. She obtained her Ph.D in physical chemistry under the supervision of Geraldine Richmond where she researched the assembly of polyelectrolytes at the oil-water interface using nonlinear optical spectroscopy. During her postdoctoral appointment at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, she worked with Ron Zuckermann to study the formation mechanism of two-dimensional materials from peptoids, a relatively new class of biomimetic polymers. Her research at Union College focuses on using peptoid monolayers at the air-water and oil-water interface as platforms for the self-assembly of plasmonic nanoparticles into ordered two-dimensional arrays.
