Lecturer/Instrumentation Specialist at Union College

The Union College Department of Chemistry invites applications for a

Lecturer/Instrumentation Specialist beginning in 2024. Successful candidates for this non-
tenure-track faculty position will have a Ph.D. in chemistry or closely related field,

significant breadth of experience with chemical instrumentation, and the potential for
excellence in undergraduate teaching. Teaching responsibilities will be primarily in
laboratory courses in introductory, organic and analytical chemistry. The College has an
exceptional suite of advanced instrumentation, and the successful candidate will have a
reduced teaching load to accommodate co-curricular responsibilities, including maintenance
of the Department’s instrumentation for teaching and research, training of faculty members
and students in the use of instrumentation, and working with other faculty to develop new
instrumentation-based experiments for laboratory courses. We strongly encourage

This is a three-year, renewable position. The expected salary for this position is $67,000 –
$69,000, commensurate with experience. Please find the ad for this position at

statement should reflect on the applicant’s experience and interests in teaching, as well as
how the applicant can contribute to the diversity of educational experiences and offerings
and engage with students with diverse skills or backgrounds. The instrumentation statement
should detail the applicant’s breadth of experience with chemical instrumentation, including
examples of instrument maintenance, method development, and user training. In addition,
we require both graduate and undergraduate transcripts and the names and contact
