Visiting Assistant Professor – Three Year Appointment

Union College Department of Chemistry invites applications for a three-year visiting position at
the Assistant Professor level beginning in Fall 2024. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in
chemistry or a closely-related field, should have the potential for excellence in undergraduate
teaching and research, and should be committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive
community.

About the Position. Teaching responsibilities will be primarily in introductory chemistry courses
and labs, with additional teaching responsibilities depending on the successful candidate’s
area(s) of expertise. This position involves teaching, on average, two courses in each of three
trimesters. The successful candidate is expected to involve undergraduates in their research
program, and the Department will provide space and access to an exceptional suite of advanced
instrumentation in support of research. The salary range for this position is $67,000 – $69,000,
commensurate with experience.

should outline research plans, including how undergraduate students with diverse skills or
